When we’re comparing Epson Ecotank ET-2720 vs Epson Ecotank ET-2800, one important thing to keep in mind is that 2800 is the upgraded model. While it wasn’t a dramatic upgrade, many of the features were improved or enhanced. The models themselves are largely the same, but 2800 is more modern and somewhat better.

In terms of overall functions though, they offer largely the same things.

You are able to print, photo print, scan, and copy. The maximum paper size is 8.5×14, but this doesn’t apply to either scanning or copying. The maximum for both of those is 8.5×11, so keep that in mind if you frequently use legal paper.

The photo copying is very vibrant and you can produce borderless prints up to 4×6, which allows you to make professional copies with ease.

While we’ll touch on speed more in the printing and copying speed section, we found that 2800 was the faster of the two in terms of printing, copying, and scanning.

Both of these have the exact same features. These Epson Ecotank Multifunction Printers are able to do nearly everything you need, which makes them the perfect basic printers for offices and homes. While they have the same features, we found that 2800 was a little faster and more reliable, but they are very close.

Epson Ecotank 2800 vs 2720: Speed

On paper, these are both rated as the same speed. We found that Epson Ecotank ET-2800 vs Epson Ecotank ET-2720 were both listed as having speeds of 10PPM for black and 5PPM for color (Prints Per Minute).

The copying speed is similar, but a little slower. This makes sense as you need more time to copy. We found the listed speeds to be 7.7CPM for black and 3.8CPM for color (Copies Per Minute).

That being said, in reality we found that 2800 was somewhat faster. It wasn’t by a large margin, but it was enough to be noticeable. This was especially true with larger print and copy jobs. The 2800 Ecotank finished minutes before the 2720 Ecotank was done.

While the speeds are similar and they are listed as being the same, we found in truth that 2800 is somewhat faster. You may not notice the difference if you only print a few sheets here and there, but those with larger print jobs should definitely choose 2800.

Epson Ecotank ET-2720 vs ET-2800: Paper Size

These are both smaller multifunction printers meant to sit on the corner of your desk. As such, they are able to hold most common paper sizes, but you won’t be able to use very large sheets. That being said, there is an impressive amount of versatility here as you can use many different sheet sizes, envelopes, and photo paper.

In terms of regular sheets and photo paper, both Epson Ecotank 2720 or 2800 are able to hold:

In general we found that 2800 functioned better under real world use. While it was rated about the same as 2720, we found the printing speed was better, the scanning a little faster, and it was a little more reliable with wireless printing methods.

However, that being said, both of these printers are nearly identical. If they’re the same price, then we’d go with 2800. If you can find the 2720 at a lower price, then it’d be the better choice.
